Call for Papers for “Physical Properties of Rocks, Friction and Fracturing: the Walsh Volume”

Post date: May 30, 2018 6:41:56 PM

To honor the memory of Dr. Joseph B. Walsh’s life and work, Yves Benerbe (MIT) and Wenlu Zhu (University of Maryland) are organizing a special collection in the Journal of Geophysical Research--Solid Earth: Physical Properties of Rocks, Friction and Fracturing: The Walsh Volume.

Joe Walsh’s work elucidated many questions regarding the mechanical and transport properties of rocks. The special collection will include a few of the seminal papers by Joe as well as new contributions reporting recent advances in the general field of rock physics, emphasizing laboratory measurements and modeling of rock properties, friction and fracturing. Experimental, observational and theoretical papers will be considered.
